Autumn in Fiskars is full of diverse workshops and courses that offer creative and engaging activities for all ages. Whether you are interested in art, crafts, wellness, or dance, Fiskars has something for everyone.
Located in the Upper Foundry in Fiskars, Desico’s candle factory offers a unique opportunity to learn about candle making. You can join a factory tour where candle master Antti Toukolehto demonstrates the candle-making process and guides you through making your own candles. You get to take home the candles you make on the same day. The factory shop is open year-round, where you can purchase high-quality Desico candles.
At the Bianco Blu glass studio, you can explore the fascinating world of glassblowing. Glassblowing courses are suitable for all ages, and no prior experience is needed. During the course, you can create your own glass object, which can be either a decorative or functional item. Every glass piece is unique, and after the course, you can take it home as a keepsake. The studio also offers demonstrations for groups, where glass master Tarmo Maaronen showcases the various stages of glassblowing.
In Fiskars, you can learn traditional silversmithing skills and create your own silver ring. In this workshop, participants will saw, file, and solder silver under the guidance of a professional. The workshop is open to everyone, and no prior experience is required.
The forge offers the opportunity to try your hand at blacksmithing. In the course, you’ll shape pre-made blanks under the guidance of a blacksmith. You’ll learn to forge a spoon bowl and a decorative “curly tail” at the end of the handle. The spoon you create can be taken home as a keepsake right after the course.
The gardening courses provide inspiration and practical tips for garden design and herb cultivation. The “Dream Garden” course helps you visualize your perfect garden, and the “Lovely Herbs!” course teaches you how to use herbs in cooking, beauty care, and health support.
Atelier Visits and Courses in Painting – By Daniel Enckell
Artist Daniel Enckell opens up his atelier and welcomes you to learn about his career and work as a professional painter. Groups can also book painting lessons.
Led by florist Tiia Selenius-Nielsen, you can participate in flower and wreath workshops, where you’ll create beautiful floral arrangements or wreaths made of fir branches. These workshops are available by reservation for groups and offers a creative activity for fall festivities.
The bakery workshop at Fiskars Museum, designed for adult groups, offers an authentic 19th-century experience. The brick oven is heated, and participants get to bake flatbread and churn butter in traditional surroundings. During the workshop, you’ll also learn about Fiskars’ history and food culture. In the end, you’ll enjoy freshly baked bread with freshly churned butter and coffee. This workshop is available from April to October.
Drawing from Cuban dance traditions, these workshops, led by dancer-therapist Julia Silverio, offer an immersive experience. The workshops are particularly suitable for corporate wellness days, bachelorette parties, or cultural events. You can choose from various dance styles such as salsa, son, and rumba, or participate in more therapeutic movement and contact exercises.
Wellness Retreats and Workshops
The wellbeing retreats offer relaxation and wellness experiences for groups. Retreats can include yoga, live music, or sound relaxation. The purpose of these workshops is to strengthen participants’ sense of connection and intuition.
