July exhibitions at The Torby hotel

Two art and design exhibitions are on display in the conference facilities at The Torby Hotel throughout July.

Chairs & Makers

Chairs & Makers is a craft and design exhibition by furniture designer and interior architect Timo Mikkonen, bringing together the finest expertise in Finnish design and craftsmanship at Hotelli Torby in Fiskars from 27 June to 30 July 2026.

The exhibition theme, Comfort of Being, explores comfort through the form of the armchair, highlighting the skill and traditions of Finnish master craftspeople and their contemporary, high-quality execution.

The project’s main collaborators are master cabinetmakers Heikki Aska and Tommi Alatalo, together with upholstery professionals Jari Salo and Tuija Santti. Additional collaborators include Adea Oy, the Finnish Furniture Foundation, Onoma, Fiskars Biennale and Hotelli Torby.

Fiskars river

A selection of paintings by local artist Daniel Enckell is on display in the Degersjö conference room at The Torby Hotel. Inspired by the Fiskars River and the lush landscapes surrounding it, the exhibition captures the tranquil atmosphere and changing light of the area through expressive and atmospheric paintings.

The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience the work of a local artist and discover another aspect of Fiskars Village’s rich art and design scene..

Daniel Enckell’s studio is located in Pohjankuru, close to the mouth of the Fiskars River. His atmospheric paintings draw inspiration from the tranquil flow of the river and the lush natural landscape that surrounds it.
