GUARDIANS has for Etzell and Råholm been a joint project aimed at raising awareness about nature and environmental conservation in Raseborg, while also sharing knowledge about the region’s rich cultural-historical landscape. The photographs were taken throughout Raseborg, in locations ranging from nature reserves to sites of cultural and historical significance. The felted wool masks have been dyed using plants and natural pigments. Perhaps the project can inspire to a more creative everyday life; where we create in harmony with the flow of nature. A more self-sufficient and ecological economy is based in an understanding of nature’s diversity and fragility. It also requires considerable knowledge of various techniques to process raw materials without disrupting ecosystems. The goal is thus to foster a more symbiotic relationship between humanity, history and the surrounding environment.
