14.10.-1.11. Kekri at Hammarbacken
This autumn, the museum presents the Finnish pre-Christian annual festival Kekri and offers fun activities for the whole family. On farms, Kekri was a harvest festival that symbolized the end of the harvest year and the beginning of the new one. The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.
23.10.-1.11 Old Mill — Tokens of the Water
The water remembers
A site-specific installation unfolding through the shadowed floors of the old Fiskars mill, where water, wood, fire and the mill’s long history meet. Giant puppets, driftwood, charred materials, light, shadow and sound create an experience that slowly reveals itself to each visitor.
The work draws from the darker layers of Kekri and Finnish folk tradition, without offering ready-made explanations. Some things can be seen, some heard – and some perhaps only sensed.
Created by Theatre Valimo’s Pimeässä collective, the work invites visitors to move through the mill and become part of its story. In a second performative experience, Aapo Repo’s Kekrimestari brings the giant puppets to life – and invites the audience to try moving them, too.
The question is not whether you dare. The question is whether you arrive before the final round ends.

24.10. Harvest Feast Brunch
At the Veitsitehdas Kekri Brunch, guests can enjoy the best flavours of the harvest season from 12:00 to 15:00. The buffet features both savoury and sweet treats, pumpkin and apple specialties, and a selection of delicious pickled delicacies.

31.10. Night at the Locomotive Shed
Who is huffing and puffing in the locomotive shed? As dusk falls, strange sounds come to life, and figures from the past seem to move among the shadows. Come and have a look, and a sweet reward awaits! The locomotive shed is open from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
