The Old Fire-Station

Fiskars Fire Station History

The Fiskars Volunteer Fire Brigade (VPK) was founded in 1881 and operated until 1989. The fire station building itself was constructed in 1912. However, the building was decommissioned in the 1970s when the fire department moved to newer facilities.

In 2023-2024, the old fire station underwent a comprehensive renovation. In the summer of 2024 the historic building served as a tourist information center for Fiskars, open during the high season. Plans are in place for the space to host various happenings in the future.

Fire Truck History

The fire truck displayed at the station is a model produced by the American Stutz Motor Company in 1927. Stutz Motor Company, operational between 1911-1935 and later between 1968-1995, was known for manufacturing sports cars and well-equipped luxury vehicles.

This specific vehicle was originally used as a personal car by the manager of the Fiskars estate, Ingram Arvo von Julin. In 1936, the vehicle was donated to the Fiskars VPK and was converted into a fire truck. It served the fire station from 1937 until 1958.

Open

The Tourist Information at Fiskars’ Old Fire Station is open on weekends leading up to Christmas, starting Saturday, November 23rd, from 10 AM to 5 PM.
