In the small basement gallery of the Copper Smithy, we welcome you to see the exhibitions by textile artist Deepa Panchamia and visual artist Katja Öhrnberg.
Deepa Panchamia uses the white space as a canvas to create ethereal, light and airy, site-specific fabric installations that grow out of the surfaces. Meanwhile, Katja Öhrnberg’s abstract paintings shift the atmosphere with their dynamic brushstrokes, bold shapes and vibrant colour. As the exhibition unfolds over five months, the space will gradually transform. Deepa’s installations will grow and extend, while paintings by Katja will rotate and change.
Both artists live and work in Fiskars Village. Deepa moved to Fiskars in 2012 after her second artist residency in the village, and Katja has been here since 2000. In this exhibition, their contrasting worlds of light and colour meet and intersect as the space evolves over time.
